Zendala Dare #86 - Grateful
from Erin at The Bright Owl
When I saw the new template this morning, all I could see was hearts, hearts, hearts! It's not very 'tangly', but that's ok by me.
I am ever so grateful for all the love in my life. My loving husband Monte foremost; he understands my creative compulsions, offers support and indulges my whims. My dogs, my friends, my family... I am one lucky gal to be surrounded by so many good things. I am happy to be retired so that I can just hang out and be artistic!!
I decided to use this wooden box for my pens and stuff. It has a nice little shelf for my sketchbook. I purchased a 59 piece set of micron markers with different styles, sizes and colors. About 5 of the tips were bad on the markers, I got doubles of some and 0 of some that should have been in there. Not very good when you consider the price for them!! Oh well... I was happy when I decided to use my tea canisters ('The Republic of Tea' , 'Mango Ceylon') to organize them, and the markers fit just right. Then I read that they should be stored flat, not up and down... It works good this way too. I suppose the sharpies and magic markers would be better flat also... I'll work that out later.
These are the circles I've been woodburning on. They are taking longer than I expected them to, but I'm really liking them. I got 12 new and different burner tips, so I've been trying them out. If I do more of these, I will order the wooden circles on line instead of cutting them myself. These are basswood ~2.5 inches wide. I will share better pictures when I get them finished. They are going to have magnets on the back to they can go on the refrigerator.
My workstation! Ha ha...
What a lovely frame for a beautiful couple! Thanks for sharing your workstation too. I love seeing how/where people do their creative thinking.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! I'm grateful to have such a nice spot!
DeleteLike Jean sais, it's interesting to see where people work, so thank you for the photo's.
ReplyDeleteYour zendala is very pretty, the red is just right here.
Thank you Anne!
DeleteI love your zendala! I also love the woodburning. I got a wood burner about a year ago and have played with it some. What do you use to color yours? I also am envious of your work station. I must rearrange the den when I take to creating. Fortunately the household doesn't mind.
ReplyDeleteThanks Cathy. I have been using sharpie markers on the wood. They will bleed a little bit, but the burned edges seem to stop that. I didn't have any problems when I put polyeurethene over them.
DeleteI spend most of my time right here at the kitchen table. I'm grateful that I have a little heater right next to me!!
I thought hearts too at first! I used to have a workplace like that on my kitchen table..but I've since moved it into the home office. My desk has very few open areas anymore!!!
ReplyDeletethe simplicity of the hearts are perfect for the photo!! Works great to frame you two!
Like the hearts. Would make a nice front for a Valentine's card as well. Like the wood burned pieces. I have only done a few and when I used the tool, used it on cork. Have not had a lot of good wood to try. Looks like you have a nice pen also. My sister does much more wood burning. She used it a lot when she did gourd work. May want to check out her blog, if not familiar with her at tinkeredart.blogspot.com.
ReplyDeleteLove your tangled frame, especially the red coloring.
ReplyDeleteSuper hearts, Munchie!! And what a beautiful box for some wonderful circles...I bought my son a wood-burning tool for Christmas, which was not entirely without self interest. I will be having a go soon so your work is a real inspiration.
